- Girard-Perregaux and CAESAR, the iconic luxury magazine from Romania, launch a one-of-a-kind limited edition of the iconic ww.tc collection: the Mondo Exploris Chronograph, limited to 8 pieces.
- Mondo Exploris is a chapter of the CAESAR luxury magazine, the symbol of the modern exploration of the world.
One of Girard-Perregaux’s great classics, the elegant ww.tc (world wide time control) chronograph is being unveiled in a new unique limited edition consisting in only 8 pieces named “Mondo Exploris”.
“WW.TC instantly became a classic model for Girard-Perregaux since it was introduced. This watch embodies the modern feeling for global explorations: a simple sight on its dial gives the perception of an entire planet life. We are proud of this very special edition together with Cesar.” Declared Stefano Macaluso, Girard-Perregaux Managing Director.
“Mondo Exploris sounds Latin but it is not. It is the name of an important chapter of our CAESAR magazine and was entirely invented in-house. It is a unique expression, probably the best way to define the modern exploration of the world. The connection with Girard-Perregaux ww.tc –one of the most iconic multi timezone watches – was a natural fit between two brands who deliver true, modern luxury. It is my great pleasure to thank Stefano and Massimo Macaluso who have been enthusiastic about this project from the very beginning” declared Dan Vardie, CAESAR Chairman and Founder.
Created in 2000, the ww.tc (World Wide Time Control) collection quickly became one of Girard-Perregaux Manufacture’s iconic lines, combining sophisticated style with watchmaking expertise. Its “world time” function provides a simultaneous display of all time zones on its dial. The secret of its exclusive system is a coupling mechanism used for driving a ring displaying the time of 24 time zones, represented by the same number of cities. The hour ring has a day/night contrast function which makes it easier to read.
The ww.tc Mondo Exploris renamed the time zone Romania after the name of the magazine, CAESAR, who originally comes from Romania. The hour ring uses a unique combination of colors: red for days and black for nights. This combination is available only for the Mondo Exploris limited edition.
The ww.tc Mondo Exploris chronograph is available in a new steel version. Its ergonomic and generously-sized 43mm case is entirely satin-finished, which emphasises the subtle strength of its design. Its matt black “stepped” dial has also been subtly reworked in the same style, playing with the contrasts of black and white; the 24-hour ring has been redesigned with two arrows showing its direction of rotation, and new baton-style hands indicating the hours and minutes.
A fusion of technical virtuosity, the exclusive GP033C0 in-house movement combines chronograph and date functions with world time indication. The 13’’’ self-winding calibre features a 46-hour power reserve. Its finishes, which can be seen through the sapphire case-back, are examples of the finest watchmaking tradition. The elegant matt black alligator strap has a folding buckle to guarantee the wearer optimum comfort.
